Gold & Outdoor Festival

August 23-24th, 2014

Last weekend, The Diggings visited the Gold & Outdoor festival, hosted by the Delta Gold Diggers. Gold prospectors and their families descended on the Mother Lode Fairgrounds in Sonora, California to learn to pan for gold, compete to prove their skills with a metal detector, listen to instructional lectures, and peruse aisles of vendor tables.

The Diggings team was particularly inspired and excited by the Builder Competition. Attendees submitted their own home-made contraptions to aid in their prospecting.

Of course, no gold festival is complete without trays upon trays of gold!
